Minty lipped obsessions.

Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein Mocha Cappuccino OH EM GEE!!

I haven't been in my local grocery store in a very long time.  I don't shop there - generally - because it's more expensive than the Big Super Hell*Mart, and I have limited time to get the food shopping done.  But, that's a whole 'nother issue.

Anyhow - I was in the regular grocery store the other night - and thirsty.  I was letting the girls pick out a treat - in the form of a Bolthouse Farms fruit smoothie drink.   (We are repeat consumers of the berry variety.)  I had seen the other versions of the Bolthouse Farms drinks before, but I've always avoided them, because I saw the "sugar" content and freaked out.   Sugar? No!  I can't have that!  I. want. that.  But, I can't have it!

BUT!  BUT! BUT!  On closer inspection?!  There is no added REFINED SUGAR!  The "sugar" listed is in the form of fruit juice, specifically, APPLE JUICE and lactose from low-fat milk.

Q. Do your 100% juices contain added sugar?
A. No, our 100% juices contain only naturally occurring sugar.

So, I can try this!  This, I can have?!  I can try this!  YAY.  (I was that excited.)

I figured that I would sip at about 1/4 of it, just to make suuure it was going to go down as planned.   I even sipped it while on a walk - thinking that it would help me get through without a blood sugar crash.)  Once I got through half, I realized it was fine - and I finished the other half later.

Now - close yer eyes if you aren't into trying anything that has listed "sugar" grams.

One sip, and I was in pure cold chocolatey coffeeish heaven.  I haven't had anything that tasted THIS real in years.  This ain't no protein shake, y'all.  Perhaps - taking one half of this bottle and adding a scoop of vanilla or chocolate whey protein would be PERFECTION!

I still can't get over how smooth and chocolatey the drink tasted, without refined sugars.  Wonderful stuff.

Now, you must know - that the whole bottle is quite a calorie-punch.  I suggest drinking half or less, or pouring over ice and sipping slowly - over time.  You cannot chug this stuff if you're trying to lose weight - it's got calories that really do still count.  If you drink the whole bottle - 16 ounces - you're getting over 300 calories.  It ain't diet food, unless, of course, you're planning for it.

But, it's decadently delicious!  And, check out these totally natural and no surprises ingredients:
