Kay's Naturals Protein Cereal

Tristan has taken to wanting Big People Food.  It's my fault, I know, for sticking her in the highchair with bits of chopped food, and teaching her to self-feed.  Now, she only wants to self-feed, or eat what we're having.  Luckily, we eat pretty well here - and she can have most any meal I cook - in a very baby portion.  Pea soup, rice and beans, turkey, chicken, most things I have been making are relatively healthy, so she's learning to eat variety.  (Of course this is the baby who will EAT LIMES straight up, so take that into consideration.)

Now, can you explain to me how this baby knows the difference between bits of cereal on her highchair tray?  I started her on plain ol' Cheerios on the tray, because they are simple to pick up and melt in her mouth.  One day, I gave her Kay's Naturals Protein Cereal - because I was munching on it - and immediately, she picked out a slightly different looking "O" and popped it into her mouth going "Mmm, mmm, mmm."  This infant, picked out the Kay's Naturals Protein Cereal, forgoing the plain oat cereal.  Smart baby.

Protein

Kay's Naturals Protein Cereal is pretty freaking good.  I don't really want to share it with the kids, but I do.  My favorite flavor is the French Vanilla.  They also have Apple Cinnamon and Honey Almond.

The ingredients:

Soy protein isolate, yellow corn flour, rice flour, tapioca starch, inulin, pea fiber, natural honey, evaporated cane juice, canola oil, cinnamon powder, vanilla extract, natural flavoring, baking powder, double-acting leavening agents, salt.

I know last time I blogged about these products - I poked fun at the Pea Fiber.  (Hehehe, pee fiber.)  But look:

FIBER: The fiber used is pea-fiber, making the high protein more digestible. This helps to prevent complications associated with high protein diets.

The nutrition:

Above all for ME, a gastric bypass post-op, the Kay's Natural's Protein Cereal Doesn't Make ME Dump or freak out my blood sugar.   The single-serve size bags would be absolutely perfect to stick in my bag and carry for snacking on the go, because I'm really not a meal-eater.  (The cheese flavors of the protein chips are freaking AWESOME, I will do a YouTube on those again. I need to get more.)
