HGTV Green House Giveaway Tour (Well, kind of.)
04/24/2010
We were out and about today, and I noticed that the HGTV peeps had put out signs for the Green House Tour. I asked Mr. MM to go take a peek.
I did not buy tickets to put on the funky shoe covers for all of us to get inside and take photos, but, I did have my iPhone with me, and got some outdoor shots.
I wanted to. I did. I admit it.
Yes, apparently, to see the house, you have to buy tickets. The money goes to "Pinehills Affordable Housing Charitable Trust Inc., a 501(C) 3 which supports private and public efforts to create qualified, affordable housing in the town of Plymouth, Mass. (Something our town desperately needs.)
I may very well go back sans children before the tours end, because, when do I get to look at pretty houses like this first hand? (Answer: Never.)
Positives. It's super cute, from what I saw. And, I really adore it's look. They call it a "cottage." It's like a "cottage" on Red Bull. It ain't no cottage. It looks NOTHING like something you find here.
Negatives. It's "small." I overhead some folks leaving and they were all "Yeah, but the set up is weird, and I think that should be used as this, and this is so strange, and I would really need a bigger this! And, OMG! Did you notice The Blank?" Then again, some of the peeps taking the tour may have been from the area, and the houses in this particular development? HUGE. McMansions Galooooore. Nothing cottage-y or Green about those.
And, for me? (*cue Randy Jackson Voice*) Of course it's not totally finished, the surrounding area is still dirt. But? It's smack dab, like 15 feet from a Model Home. Like, reach out and TOUCH IT close. Like, ghetto close. Like the way I am used to living close. ;)
On the other side, it's staring at the apartment complex of the entire development. It's a strange set up. You would think a Green Home would be, you know, In The Green. It's just, sorta, plopped, in a sales pitch. Can I interest you in an Open House today?
Yeah, SHUT UP. Beggars can't be choosers. I still want you to win it so I can come over and play.
