ATTENTION OAC MEMBERS OAC Presents Slate for 2013 National Board of Directors
  • The OAC is currently in the election process for the 2013 National Board of Directors. The OAC is governed under the authority of a National Board and accepts applicants for the Board throughout the year. As members of the OAC, you have the opportunity to participate in the election process.
  • Below, you will find the 2013 National Board of Directors slate, where we have seven current Board members returning and one new candidate to present. We are asking you to review this slate, and take action if needed. Alternate candidates can be presented, but must receive 5 percent of the vote to be on the slate. If you do not have any alternate candidates or objections, no action is needed. Details of the process may be found below the slate of presented candidates.

2013 OAC National Board of Directors Slate -

New Director:

Michelle Vicari - Ms. Vicari is a self-employed freelance writer from Temecula, CA. She has been a long-time member of the OAC and currently serves on the OAC Membership Committee. Ms. Vicari is well-known for her Blog, The World According to Eggface, which is designed to support individuals in their life-long journey with obesity. She is a strong advocate for the OAC, having participated in the OAC's Day on the Hill in Washington, DC, last year and was recently the recipient of the 2012 Outstanding Membership Recruitment by an OAC Member award. Ms. Vicari is a gastric bypass patient, having successfully maintained a 158-pound weight-loss for nearly seven years. 

Returning Directors:

Pam Davis, RN, CBN, BSN - Ms. Davis is the current OAC Chairman and current chair of the OAC Executive Committee and OAC Marketing Committee. Ms. Davis is a bariatric surgery patient as well as a bariatric nurse who serves as a bariatric program director in Nashville, TN.

Jim Fivecoat, MBA - Mr. Fivecoat was the founding Chairman of the OAC National Board of Directors, currently serves on the National Board, and is the current chair of the OAC Membership Engagement Task Force. Mr. Fivecoat is a benefits executive from Greenville, SC, and is also a bariatric surgery patient.

Ted Kyle, RPh - Mr. Kyle is a current member of the OAC National Board of Directors and serves as chair of the OAC Nominating Committee. He is a pharmacist and retired pharmaceutical company executive from Pittsburgh, PA

Walter Lindstrom, Esq. - Mr. Lindstrom is a current member of the OAC National Board of Directors. He is a bariatric surgery patient and an attorney specializing in obesity advocacy from San Diego, CA.

Georgeann Mallory, RD - Ms. Mallory is a founding Director of the National Board of Directors and currently serves on the National Board. She is the Executive Director of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as well as a registered dietitian.

Tracey Martinez, RN, BSN, CBN - Ms. Martinez is a current member of the OAC National Board of Directors and serves as the chair of the OAC Revenue Generation Committee. She is a bariatric nurse and program director from San Diego, CA.

Lloyd Stegemann, MD, FASMBS - Dr. Stegemann is a current member of the OAC National Board of Directors, chair of the OAC Sponsored Membership Program, chair of the OAC Membership Committee and Program co-chair of theYour Weight Matters National Convention. Dr. Stegemann is a metabolic and bariatric surgeon from Corpus Christi, TX.

What You Need to Do Next...

According to the OAC’s bylaws, the above slate will be officially elected on December 8, 2012, unless 5 percent of the OAC membership submits an alternate/additional individual to be considered. If you wish to submit an alternate/additional nominee, please send an email including your name and membership number (found on your membership card) as well as the nominee name and contact information to

Any proposed nominees must be current paid members of the organization and their name must be submitted by 5 percent of our current active members within 30 days of when this slate is presented. If there are additional nominees submitted, an official election ballot, including the above slate and any additional nominees, will be distributed to the membership. If you have no objections and/or no suggestions for additional nominees, no action is needed.

The above members of the slate, if elected, will be installed as new Directors for 2013, joining the remaining OAC Board of Directors.
