Season 14 of "The Biggest Loser" will feature contestants between the ages of 13 and17 for the first time, NBC revealed, in addition to adult contestants.
Michaels and fellow trainers Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince will each coach one of three teams, each of which will feature at least one child participant. The children will not be eligible for elimination, but will compete with their teams and their progress will be feature each episode.
With childhood obesity at an all-time high, Michaels, who is a new mom of two, said in a statement that she is devoted to the cause. "As a former overweight teen, I know firsthand how dramatically weight issues can affect every aspect of a child's life," Michaels said in a statement. "Having recently become a mother of two, I am more passionate than ever about helping empower children and families with the information and resources they need to live a healthier life."
"The Biggest Loser" Season 14 will also feature special celebrity guest stars and additional surprises that will be revealed closer to the premiere.
